Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to support a State of California client, working on EHR data lakehouse platforms and large-scale data pipelines in a regulated environment.

Mandatory Requirements (No Exceptions)

4+ years of experience in authoring & monitoring data pipelines
(OR 8+ years without degree / 5+ years + bootcamp)
5+ years of ETL experience (profiling, cleansing, legacy data transformation)

Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Data Analyst with strong Medicaid, healthcare claims, eligibility, provider, and encounter data experience.
The role supports program evaluation, policy analysis, operational reporting, federal/state reporting, and data-driven decision-making.
This is a hands-on analytics role requiring strong SQL/SAS skills, reporting experience, stakeholder communication, and healthcare data understanding.

Key Responsibilities
Analyze Medicaid claims, eligibility, provider, and encounter data to identify trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Support program evaluation, policy analysis, audit support, operational reporting, and leadership decision-making through data insights.
Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools.
Present data findings to stakeholders in a clear, actionable, and business-friendly format.
Work with internal teams, external partners, and leadership to define data needs and deliver reporting or analytical solutions.
Ensure all work aligns with healthcare regulations, HIPAA requirements, state data governance standards, and agency compliance expectations.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in healthcare, Medicaid, or claims-based environments.
Strong experience analyzing Medicaid claims, eligibility, provider, encounter, or healthcare administrative data.
Strong proficiency in SQL and SAS.
Working knowledge of Python for data manipulation, analysis, automation, and reporting support.
Minimum 3+ years of experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
Experience building dashboards, recurring reports, operational metrics, and executive-level reporting artifacts.
Strong understanding of healthcare data structures, especially Medicaid or claims-based data.

Responsible for end-to-end testing activities across multiple enterprise systems.
